The City of Tucson
Established in 1775, Tucson is the second-largest city in Arizona. Nestled in the Sonoran Desert, it is known for its rich cultural heritage, stunning desert landscapes, and vibrant arts scene. Tucson blends Native American, Spanish, Mexican, and Anglo influences, reflected in its architecture, cuisine, and festivals. The city is also a hub for education and innovation. Outdoor enthusiasts flock to Tucson for its hiking, cycling, and proximity to natural wonders like Saguaro National Park. With its warm climate and diverse community, Tucson offers a unique mix of history, culture, and modern living.

Tucson Pima County Historical Commission
The Tucson-Pima County Historical Commission (TPCHC) was established to advise the Mayor and Council, the City Planning and Development Services Department, the Board of Supervisors, and the applicable county officials on issues concerning historic sites, historic structures, and new construction and demolition within Historic Preservation Zones or Historic Landmarks within the community. The formal review functions of the Tucson-Pima County Historical Commission are performed by the TPCHC Plans Review Subcommittee.

The Arizona Historical Society (AHS) is proud to serve as the steward of Arizona’s history. Our collections broadly represent Arizona history that offers a one-of-a-kind resource for Arizona history. Our artifact and manuscript holdings offer unique opportunities for public programming, educational outreach, and exhibitions, as well as academic and community-based research. AHS collections provide premier resources for recounting Arizona’s past, and they are invaluable tools for promoting public understanding of contemporary issues such as water availability, immigration, free trade, mining, ranching and agribusiness, the defense industry, cultural diversity, and urban development and revitalization.

Los Descendientes de Tucson promotes, preserves and celebrates the unique history of the Pimeria Alta through safeguarding, documenting and educating the community on the rich heritage, historical places, and traditions of the founding cultures of Tucson. They are also the parent of the Mexican American Heritage and History Museum located at the historic Sosa-Carrillo House.

The Southern Arizona Transportation Museum
The purpose of the Southern Arizona Transportation Museum is to interpret the history of railroading in Southern Arizona with a focus on the Tucson Historic Depot and the displayed Locomotive #1673. A management committee was formed in 2001 to complete the task of establishing the museum. The museum is now a division of Old Pueblo Trolley, Inc which was founded in 1983. By 2003, as well as completing a formal study, the museum was awarded a variety of grants and private donations that funded the museum exhibits. On March 20th, 2005, the 125th Anniversary of the Arrival of the Railroad in Tucson, the museum was dedicated with the help of Mayor Bob Walkup.

TMA is committed to developing quality exhibitions, caring for its collection, providing arts education, stewarding five historically significant properties, presenting relevant and innovative programs, and broadening public access to the arts. As this institution enters its second century of serving communities of Southern Arizona and beyond, its varied collections, interpretative programs, and exhibitions exemplify the museum’s regionality, reflecting multiple perspectives, histories, and cultural intersections as well as highlighting global influences and ideas.

Tucson Presidio Trust for Historic Preservation
The Presidio Museum is managed by the Tucson Presidio Trust for Historic Preservation. The mission of the Presidio Museum is to promote, preserve, and interpret the origins and history of Tucson and its natural environment, inviting conversation and discovery of its multi-cultural community.

The mission of the Vail Preservation Society is to honor and preserve the unique history and cultural heritage of the Greater Vail Community. We are committed to safeguarding historic landmarks, educating the public about our rich past, and fostering a deep sense of place and identity. Through collaborative efforts, hands-on projects, and community engagement, we strive to ensure that the stories and traditions of Vail continue to inspire and enrich future generations.
